Out With Aftermarket, In With Electric

Aftermarket parts are now more than ever a huge part of the car community. With the widespread introduction of electric vehicles and hybrid cars, all the motorists that still love the smell of gasoline and sound of thunder under their hood are wanting in on the aftermarket world. Yay right? Maybe, and maybe not.

You see, the more people that try to buy aftermarket parts such as new air intakes, mufflers, wheels, etc., the more business the industry drives. That means higher demand. Higher demand should mean cheaper parts right? Not exactly. The way marketing works is the higher demand the higher the prices. Instead of increasing production of certain parts, they increase the price to make more money and buy less materials to produce.

Why would they do that? It's all about business. Especially now with all of the electrification going on, this industry isn't going to be around for a whole lot longer unless we find some way to make gasoline other than fossil fuels. The combustion engine is coming to it's last life cycle, and everyone wants a sweet taste of it.

Gas engines. The most prominent everyday product of the human world of transportation, coming to an end. With the end of gas cars, comes the end of gas motor aftermarket parts. The prices start rising on our favorite exhaust systems, our favorite air intake systems and all other parts of the engine.

Where do we go from here? Well, for starters, lets buy want we want for our cars, and not trash and stuff that is just a temporary fix. Let's fix it the way we want it. That way, we're not spending double the amount of money on temporary fixes and then getting what we want, rather we save money by just biting the bullet on what we already had planned for the future of our cars.

Study the trends of the market. Look at the electric vehicles, there isn't going to be much we can do with them. So the car community isn't going to be the best people for them to market to. Look at all the trucks, the towing capacities and cross country travel. Farmers, truckers and everyday work men who use their truck daily aren't looking into buying electric anytime soon. So yeah, there's time left. But at the same time, technology moves quickly, improvements to electric vehicles will be made to sufficiently replace all gas cars in the future.

Don't take this time in the car world for granted. One day you'll be able to say you knew how to work on a gas car. Maybe on day, your car will be the only gas car on the road in your town. Maybe one day, you will appreciate the times we've had with gas cars today.
