Lamborghini's New Prototype
In the next IMSA event at Sebring International, supercar manufacturer Lamborghini will enter it’s prototype classed car (GTP) will make it’s debut.
Lamborghini has had a rich history in the IMSA Sportscar Series in years past winning ten (10) races in GTD classes (GTD Pro, GTD).
The new bright green entry to the IMSA GTP field will also enter another prototype manufacturer to the field. Ligier will produce the chassis of the Lamborghini prototype that you see on track. The engine is 3.8L V8. The effort put into this engine is amazing. Developers took the turbo’s for the engine and moved them to gather cooler air from elsewhere within the engine bay towards the rear of the car. The car also has a low center of gravity as well. This was also considered in the development process in order to keep the car stable and under control throughout the endurance races this season.

Lamborghini, an Italian company, tested this prototype in Italy and Spain mostly before entering it in several championships (WEC, IMSA). The testing was thorough and well mannered. Before bringing this car to Sebring in a few weeks, Lamborghini took the prototype to testing at Daytona prior to the Rolex 24 earlier this year. The bright green machine was also brought to COTA (Circuit of the Americas) in Texas to test before finally testing in the main event track, Sebring International.
At Sebring, the already impressive 4 manufacturers in the GTP class will expand to 5 with the entry of Lamborghini's new prototype racing for Iron Lynx.
Don’t miss the action, or the newly developed Lamborghini at Sebring International on Saturday March 16th later this month.
